Lawan boycotts Saraki’s delegation to Adamawa

Senator Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan yesterday boycotted a delegation constituted by Senate president Bukola Saraki to visit Adamawa state.
Lawan was the preferred candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the senate president’s seat.
The senators had during a plenary last week resolved to visit Northeast states to meet victims of the Boko Haram insurgency.
Saraki on Monday led some senators to Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.
Saraki had on Tuesday during the plenary constituted a 8-man senate committee with the deputy senate president, Ike Ekweremadu as leader and Lawan as a member.
Other members of the delegation are Binta Masi Garba, Abubakar Ahmadu, Abdul-Aziz Murtala Nyako, Bala Ibn Na’Allah, Bashir Marafa and George Sekibo.
While other members of the delegation led by Senator Ekweremadu left for Adamawa state, Lawan was seen at the chamber yesterday.
Our correspondent reports that since the resumption of the senate on July 28th from recess, Lawan, a third term senator has been keeping mum.
Lawan (Yobe north) didn’t utter a word even when Boko Haram insurgency was discussed last week at the plenary.
Efforts to get Lawan to react on the boycott failed as he did not pick the calls put to his mobile phone.
