The President of the 9th Senate, Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan, has said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe State is committed to delivering 3.5 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
Lawan made the declaration during an APC critical stakeholders’ meeting held at the Government House in Damaturu.
He explained that the pledge was based on the administration’s performance, citing various interventions and reforms introduced by the federal government, which he said are already yielding positive results.
“His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will secure 3.5 million votes from Yobe State in the 2027 general elections.

“We are very mindful of the performance of this administration and the various interventions and reforms introduced by the federal government, which have started yielding positive outcomes.
“During the last presidential election, we recorded one of the highest percentage performances in Nigeria, and we intend to surpass that with even greater results.
“We must return to our constituencies and work diligently to ensure we outperform even states with larger populations. This is achievable,” he said.
Speaking on the outcome of the stakeholders’ meeting regarding the governorship ticket, Lawan disclosed that the party has adopted a consensus approach for selecting its candidates.
“The APC in Yobe State has resolved to adopt consensus as the mode of selecting its candidates for the governorship, National Assembly, and State Assembly positions.
“Out of the two options provided in the Electoral Act — consensus and direct primaries — the party has chosen consensus.
“Based on our past experience, consensus has always worked effectively for us in Yobe State. Any candidate that emerges through this process will enjoy the full support of all party members,” he added.
Earlier, Governor Mai Mala Buni noted that the party remains united despite internal differences, emphasizing the importance of cohesion ahead of the elections.
