Senator Lola Ashiru, representing Kwara South Senatorial District, has called for the establishment of a University of Archeology to preserve Nigeria’s history and cultural heritage as well as promote tourism.
Ashiru made the call during a visit to historical monuments and tourist sites in some parts of the district. He noted that the sites have the capacity to turn cultural heritage to wealth.
The lawmaker, who expressed the need to encourage the study of Nigeria’s history to save cultures threatened with extinction, described cultural tourism as important in the life of human beings.
He, therefore, called on governments to collaborate with private investors to develop tourism in Kwara South.
