Ahmad particularly encouraged members of the bar in Kwara State to join hands with the ruling class in its effort to serve the people of the state better and deliver democratic dividends to all and sundry.
Addressing the state NBA executive members who paid him a courtesy visit, the lawmaker who has just been elected into the state House of Assembly, urged the cooperation of the bar to ensure the success of the next legislature.
Ahmad who is a lawyer, currently represents Ilorin East and South in the House of Representatives. He has won the seat for Ilorin South Local Government in the state assembly with the permutation that he would emerge the next speaker of the house, political analyst said.
The NBA executive chaired by Barr. Mobolaji Ojibara had called the lawmaker’s attention to some “anachronistic laws in the state judiciary” and called on Ahmad to use his authority in the house to address the problem.
But Ahmad challenged the NBA to take up laws in the state judiciary requiring amendment, saying after four years, laws of Kwara State must be up to date.
He added that he would feel unfulfilled as a lawmaker if after the end of his tenure, he could not clean up the laws of the state, stressing further that cultism law would be amended as demanded by the bar representatives.
“I see my election as a call to serve. It is an opportunity for me, I would not be there for life. We are here to work and we won’t be fulfilled if at the end of our four years we cannot clean up the laws of the state,” he said.
He advised the NBA to provide complimentary role in fashioning out how to achieve the developmental goals of Kwara State government.
“NBA should serve as watchdog for all of us. You should always call us to ensure that every politician meets the yearnings and aspirations of the people,” he said.
