The Justice, Development and Peace Commission (JDPC) of the Catholic Diocese of Lokoja has called on members of the Kogi State House of Assembly to take their legislative oversight responsibilities serious to ensure sustainable development in the state.
A member of the Steering Committee of JDPC in the state, Mr Idris Miliki, made the call at a one-day workshop organised for members of the Kogi State House of Assembly on the theme: “Legislative Oversight, A Key to promoting good governance in democracy.”
He maintained that members of the assembly should not only be contented with the yearly ritual of passing appropriation bills without any thorough oversight efforts to ensure the funds appropriated actually translated into tangible projects.
