The Lagos State House of Assembly has urged Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to direct men of the state Police Command to ensure regular patrol of all General Hospitals in the state following the recent attack on Orile-Agege General Hospital by hoodlums.
Chairman, House Committee on Information, Olusegun Olulade, representing Epe Constituency II at the Assembly, who raised the motion under a Matter of Urgent Public Importance said that there is a need to beef up security around the State Hospitals following the ugly incident at General Hospital, Orile Agege.
Contributing, a member of the House, Rotimi Olowo pointed out that the issue applies everywhere in the state and that it should not be limited to Orile Agege alone noting that the problem have been identified and it should be curtailed.
Ruling on the debate,Speaker of the House, Mudashiru Obasa ,said the issue should not be pushed to the police again but the Primary Health Care Board and the Health Service Commission.
“These agencies should provide adequate security at our hospitals. They have a crucial role to play in providing security for health workers and patients in our hospitals,” he said adding that hoodlums intrusion at the Orile Agege General Hospital should be investigated.
