Lawuru urged to contest Warri federal constituency seat

Stakeholders across Warri Federal Constituency in Delta State have intensified calls on community leader and philanthropist, Promise Lawuru, to contest the House of Representatives seat in the 2027 general elections, citing his grassroots appeal, leadership qualities and commitment to community development.

The call was made on Friday during a courtesy visit by members of the Warri Progressive Frontiers to Chief Lawuru, where they formally appealed to him to consider offering himself for public service at the federal legislative level.

Speaking during the visit, the National Coordinator of the group said their appeal was based on Lawuru’s track record in empowerment initiatives and his consistent contributions to human capital development across the constituency.

According to him, Warri Federal Constituency requires credible, visionary and people-focused representation in the National Assembly, adding that Lawuru possesses the leadership capacity and grassroots connection needed to effectively represent the interests of the people.

He noted that the group, alongside other stakeholders in the constituency, believes Lawuru’s experience in community development and empowerment programmes positions him to provide purposeful representation.

In his response, Chief Lawuru expressed appreciation to the group for the visit and the confidence reposed in his leadership.

He stated that while he appreciates the growing calls for him to enter the race, he would first undertake broad consultations with critical stakeholders across Warri Federal Constituency before making a final decision.

Lawuru also revealed that similar appeals had recently been made by other leaders and stakeholders urging him to join the contest.

He assured members of the delegation that he would carefully consider the request and provide feedback after completing the necessary consultations.
