In a petition against Oluyede to the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee, Obla who accused Oluyede of fabricating stories to make his client’s case looked good, is asking the committee “to inquire into the infamous conduct of Oluyede with a view to bringing him before the committee to account for the misdeed to save the legal profession of loss of reputation and integrity of its members.”
Kashamu, now a Senator-elect, representing Ogun East, said a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (apparently refering to Obla), who is “very close” to the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Mohammed Adoke (SAN), leaked the plot to his lawyer, Ajibola Oluyede, while on a flight from Lagos to Abuja.
He said this in an April 15, 2015 letter to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), in which he is seeking the commission’s intervention.
But in the petition, Obla said that except for media report on the Kashamu’s alleged indictment in the United States of America, he had, “never had any connection, nor shown any particular or special interest beyond the media effects of consistent reportage, on the person of Kashamu and his associates, including the said prince Ajibola Olueyede, his lawyer, with whom I only had a brief encounter in court in the year 2013 in the course of my professional duties in suits totally unconnected with Kashamu.”
Obla said that he would have ignored the “lies” told by Oluyede as nothing, “but mere antics of a desperate lawyer sliding beyond his call of duty to indulge in the old tales on a voyage of fabricating facts in order to earn his brief at all costs.”
According to him, Oluyede was only out to use blackmail as an extra judicial stratagem to obtain the bidding of his client in an already pending extradition suit.
