The application for an out-of-court settlement of the suit seeking an increase in the salaries and allowances of judges in Nigeria.

Sebastine Hon had brought the suit against the Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Commission, the Attorney-General of the Federation and the National Judicial Council as defendants.

The matter was on June 6 adjourned by the National Industrial Court in Abuja for report of settlement after the National Assembly, through its counsel, Charles Yoila, applied for it.

But at the resumed hearing Wednesday, counsel to the AGF, Ekene Elodimuo, filed a counter affidavit and preliminary objection against the suit.

Following the filing of the fresh processes, counsel to Hon, Adgboyega Awomolo, said it indicated that the June 6 proposed out-of-court settlement had collapsed.

However, counsel to NJC, Kunle Adegoke, pleaded with the judge to grant him a short adjournment to enable him file necessary processes in respect of the matter.

Justice Osatohanmwen Obaseki-Osaghae adjourned the matter to June 27 for hearing.
