The first female senior advocate of Nigeria, Chief ‘Folake Solanke has charged lawyers to be at the forefront of the war against corruption for it to succeed. 

Speaking recently at a public lecture in Abuja, Solanke said corruption has caused stagnation of the economic life to the point that citizens are now seeking better lives elsewhere mostly leading to catastrophic ends like the 26 girls that died at Mediterranean Sea. 

“Indeed, corruption is the root of the economic stagnation in our beloved country because the available money and other resources which should be used to provide for the welfare of the people are being stolen by fellow citizens,” she said. 

She said the war against corruption can only be won when offenders are prosecuted and convicted, adding that whistle blowers are very important in this regard.
