The Lagos Business School (LBS) has introduced a new training programme to help family-owned businesses in Nigeria handle governance and succession challenges that often threaten their continuity.
The three-day course, which will run from November 11 to 13, 2025, at the LBS campus in Lagos, aims to equip business owners, next-generation leaders, and advisors with tools to strengthen leadership structures and manage smooth transitions across generations.
Family businesses play a vital role in Nigeria’s economy, but many struggle when it comes to leadership change and internal governance.
The new programme, launched under the LBS Family Business Initiative, is designed to address those gaps through practical sessions, real-life case studies, and open discussions.
Dr. Okey Nwuke, Director of the LBS Family Business Initiative, described the programme as an opportunity for business families to “build legacies that last.”
“This programme provides tested frameworks that help family enterprises master governance, plan succession effectively, and create harmony between family and business goals,” he said.
The course will feature lectures and panel sessions led by industry leaders and academics including Professor Chris Ogbechie, former dean of LBS; Professor Franklin Ngwu, Professor of Strategic Management; Mr. Rasheed Sarunmi, Group CEO of Saroafrica-SIAT Group; and Mr. Segun Sowande, Partner and Head of Strategy and Business Consulting at KPMG Africa.
Other facilitators include Ms. Abiola Adediran of Genea Family Office, Mr. Isaac Orolugbagbe of Accelstra Limited, and Mr. Chidi Okoro, founder of Drugs and Medicaments Ltd.
Participants will be taken through topics such as family governance structures, leadership transition, communication management, and sustaining intergenerational growth.
