A socio-cultural organisation under the aegis of Omo Ibile Igbomina has insisted that it is the turn of the Igbomina bloc to produce the next senator for Kwara South in the 2027 general elections.

They disclosed this in Ilọrin after the “Igbomina Lokan” summit.

The event attracted monarchs, leaders and stakeholders from across the three local governments.

In a communique issued after the event signed by the National President of Omo Ibile Igbomina, Elder Gabriel Yemi Jimoh, and the Chairman of the occasion, Chief Solo Olaoye, the group based its position on “an obvious imbalance in past representations”.

They noted that the Ekiti and Ibolo blocs have each produced senators for a cumulative period of twelve years, while the Igbomina bloc has done so for only four years.

It added that the Ibolo bloc currently occupies the seat.

According to them, the “glaring disparity” is politically untenable and contrary to the spirit of rotational equity that promotes unity and inclusive development.

The historical record, they noted, clearly shows that “the political turn rightfully belongs to the Igbomina bloc for the 2027 election”.

They appealed to the Ekiti and Ibolo blocs to support the Igbomina quest in the interest of justice, fairness, peace, and the overall progress of Kwara South.

The communique affirmed that their demand is rooted in the established principle of zoning and rotational equity, stressing that the other blocs have held the position for far longer periods.

They called on the Ekiti and Ibolo blocs, all political parties, and the leadership of Kwara State to recognise the moral and political weight of the Igbomina demand and support an Igbomina candidate in 2027.

They warned against attempts from within or outside the bloc to undermine the collective resolve, expressing confidence that the cooperation of the sister blocs would ensure the emergence of an Igbomina senator.

The communique also mandated the national leadership to immediately constitute a broad based strategy and implementation committee to carry the resolution to stakeholders across the state and initiate diplomatic engagements with Ekiti and Ibolo leaders.

It further tasked it to interface with political parties on the bloc’s position, and ensure that all Igbomina aspirants work together.

“The Omo Ibile Igbomina has spoken with one voice. Our case is just, our argument is logical, and our resolve is unshakable.

“And we express optimism that with the support of well meaning stakeholders, the Igbomina demand for the Kwara South Senate seat in 2027 would be realised for the peace, equity and accelerated development of the district”, it added.
