Leadership crisis rocks Kano chamber of commerce

A faction from Kano Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KACCIMA) has accused the current leadership of the chamber of constitutional violations for not holding elections and seeking for extension to November this year.

The aggrieved faction claimed that the KACCIMA leadership was trying to forcefully perpetuate management of the chamber an attempt they claimed contradicted the constitutional provision of the chamber.

“The leadership tenure ought to have ended this month and an election should have been conducted in the same month; but they have written a letter to the state ministry of commerce seeking for extension, their action is unconstitutional and we will not fold our arms and allow the chamber’s constitution to be violated at will,” a member of the aggrieved group who pleaded for anonymity said.

When contacted, Permanent Secretary of the state Ministry of Commerce, Alhaji Baba Halilu Dantiye said the ministry had not received any letter from leadership of the chamber seeking for extension.

Similarly, KACCIMA President, Alhaji Umar Dansuleka said the leadership of the chamber did not in any way violated any constitutional provision of the chambers as their tenure would come to an end in November this year, not March as the aggrieved faction
claimed.

“As far as we are concerned we have no any leadership crisis in the chamber. We were sworn into office in November, 2015, therefore, our tenure will end in November, 2017.
