The Ibeku Elders of Thoughts have asked that former Abia State Governor, now Senator T.A Orji, be left to focus on his work of law-making instead of being distracted by attempts to denigrate his reputation.
The group, led by Chief Ike Nduka Nwankwo made this appeal at a press briefing held in Abuja to react to media reports in which  Orji was accused of embezzling public funds while serving as governor of Abia State between 2007 and 2015.
Speaking to journalists, Chief Nwankwo said, “It is necessary to state this because if you denigrate Senator TA Orji, it means that you are against Abia people who are the beneficiaries of his deliveries in the past years.”
Last week, a newspaper published a petition against the former Governor, which was addressed to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), calling on the agency to investigate.
