Legalpedia incorporates Shari’a Law

Barrister Emeka Albert, Editor in Chief, Legalpedia, disclosed this to Daily Trust during a chat recently in Owerri, Imo State.
 He said that the Shari’a Law cases and Shari’a Court of Appeal cases were incorporated into Legalpedia law report to take cases of Shari’a States shortly before the just concluded NBAAnnual General conference in Owerri.
The Shari’a Law judgments, according to him, have Arabic so there was the compatibility issue in creating it into the software solution. “We had to find a way to preserve the judgments exactly the way they are, without any alteration,” he said.
 He mentioned that justice has to be dispensed at the grassroots level, adding that “if you don’t have these cases in areas covered by Shari’a Law you will continue to run the analogue system.
“The competition in software solution for legal practice has made us to keep moving and adding up resources, making it a one-stop shop for lawyers and judges so that whether itis for precedence or practice guide, Shari’a cases or Court of Appeal cases, we have got all the necessary approvals to include the resources there”, Barr. Albert said.
