Lekki shooting inquiry stalls after CBN freeze on #ENDSARS accounts

Protest at Lekki toll gate turned deadly amidst allegations that soldiers shot at civilians

Proceedings at the Lagos Judicial Panel of Inquiry on Restitution for victims of SARS related abuses has been stalled due to alleged government interference and lack of quorum.

Two youths’ representatives on the panel– Olorunrinu Bolatito Oduala and Majekodunmi Temitope Oluwaseun–were absent on Saturday as an atmosphere of siege and fear surround the Lekki venue of the proceedings.

The absence of the duo was due to protests against the freezing of the accounts of the #ENDSARS promoters by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN.

The chairperson of the panel, Justice Doris Okuwobi (Rtd) said the panel did not know what prevented Oduala Bolatito Olorunrinu from coming, hence the panel adjourned further proceedings till 14th November, 2020.

The panel sits Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
