The Lekki Muslim Ummah (LEMU) has called for greater youth involvement in Islamic propagation.
President of LEMU, Dr. Abdul Ganiyu Olusola Labinjo, made the call during the organisation’s 7th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Lagos.
The AGM was preceded by the commissioning of the second phase of staff accommodation, comprising six additional rooms, as well as the presentation of the 2024 financial report and statements.
Labinjo warned that neglecting youth participation in Islamic activities could threaten the future of the faith within the community.

“The absence of youths in the masjid today portends the absence of Islam in our community tomorrow,” he said.
He also noted that LEMU had continued to strengthen its foundation through deliberate efforts focused on organisational structure, transparency, and inclusiveness.
The Islamic organisation reported a significant growth in donations, rising from N251 million in 2023 to N322.8 million in 2024 — an increase of about 29 percent. Stakeholders attributed the growth to stronger donor engagement, improved fundraising strategies, and heightened awareness of LEMU’s impact. A member of the Board of Trustees (BOT), Engr. Raji Adeniji, who represented the Chairman, Vice Admiral Jubrila Ayinla (rtd.), commended LEMU’s progress over the past year. He attributed its successes to the dedication of members to the cause of Islamic propagation.
Adeniji added that LEMU had become a flagship of the Muslim community in Lagos, with its Zakat and Sadaqah Committee driving poverty alleviation initiatives, while its Welfare Committee, Women Forum, and Youth Committee continued to make impactful contributions in charity, health, and community development.
