Lere is a peaceful LGA in Kaduna State. The LGA is blessed with some industrious and hardworking men, women and youth who are mostly into farming. It is one of the agricultural hubs of Kaduna State and Nigeria.

Sadly, a larger part of Lere LGA has been without electricity for more than three years and still counting.

The immediate past member of the House of Representatives, the Late Suleiman Aliyu Lere (Gari Ya Waye), once raised a motion on the floor of the 8th House of Representatives to this effect. I vividly recall Rt. Hon. Alhassan Ado Doguwa reiterated this motion while paying tribute to the deceased member on the floor of the house, appealing to the then Speaker Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, to intervene, the issue is still pending.

This is to call on all those concerned to please put in more effort to connect all those parts of Lere LGA that have been without electricity for over three years to the national grid. Citizens of the LGA contribute a lot to food security in Nigeria, they deserve first-class treatment. Those concerned should as a matter of urgency give them a priority, please.
