You aren’t being fair to men, Al-Bint
I always like reading your weekly column. It gives me a perfect picture of life in our matrimonial homes. It also serves as a lesson for reflection. Indeed it’s a must-read for all homes. I started reading it alone, but gradually indoctrinated my wife Aysha. Every Saturday now, she looks forward to me bringing the Weekly Trust home in order to read her favourite column. Now her one wish is to meet Al-Bint physically wherever she resides. I gave her my guess that Al-Bint could be residing somewhere in Kaduna. Hope I am right.
But Bint, your opinions seem to be one sided. Husbands or men generally are always at the receiving end of your criticisms. I am waiting for the time when the table could be reversed. This will make it a balance scale and interesting reading for people like me. You know the problem of men especially muslims is that Allah has permitted them up to 4 wives but you women don’t like your husbands to marry up to such number. Yet, you want your daughters to be married. How do you reconcile the two?. Another trend among womenfolk now is that they want to pursue careers or become traders going to Dubai, India or China and at the same time they want to maintain a happy marriage. How can this be achieved?

I”m about marrying a second wife but I always worry about how to live happily with them in a most Islamic way. I love my first wife dearly so also the one am about bringing in. Your previous episode titled “Your just desserts” gave me an insight into on some of the many ways a man should live with more than a wife, more so that I intend to keep them separately. Salam aleykum, kudos to you for updating your diary with the latest events happening around us. Its with high esteem that I write to you regarding the above episode which involved young Tahir. Your nephew appears to be a victim of New Nigerian Ladies Exchange Programme (NNLEEP). Its aims & objectives are wealth at the expense of love. Members of this club forget that those old men did not leap from childhood to old age with their wealth, they acquired it along the way. My sympathy goes to the many young sincere lovers ones who went through what young Tahir did. Well I happen to be a victim, just like your character Tahir, so I hope I deserve your remedy for him ‘’an educated, well mannered, beautiful and God-fearing wife.’’ I am Abu from Abuja.

Salam I was very happy to read the above story. I always like to read crime novels like The Godfather and The Family by Mario Puzo. I read many editions of James Hadley Chase too. They all gave me more ideas on how to handle a criminal when he approaches me. Thanks and well done for your piece.
