Ace broadcaster and beautician, Folashade Omotoyinbo Bosede has admonished journalists to promote the need to respect the Covid-19 protocols among Nigerians.

She also advised Nigerians to patronise credible news media, while charging journalists to rise above sentiments in their reportage and service to the nation.

She also advised the government, and authorities at the private sector, market leaders and motor park leaders to ensure strict adherence to Covid-19 protocols, especially the use of masks, hand sanitisers and keeping of social distancing when in public places.

“Let everyone cooperate with government in ensuring that the people regularly wash their hands and avoid contacts with their nose, eyes and ears, there should also be provisions for thermometers and hand sanitisers at public places, while every parent should make sure their children too wear face masks when in public places,” Folasade said.

The London-base beautician, who had 10-years working experience with the Ekiti State Broadcasting Services, said good journalism will help to stem the tide of fake news, which she said is damaging and could affect the peaceful co-existence in a nation whenever a sensitive information is not well managed.

“I understand that journalists could be influenced by the government in power or influential individuals, but realising that journalism is an interesting and also challenging practice, anyone who wishes to go in, must have a burning passion for it to succeed in the job.

“During my time, I dedicated myself to the service of Ekiti State, and it was worth the while. I charge you all to understand that you have a name to protect, so let us shun external influences when we do our job, and also do away with churning out fake news, which is capable of dividing us as a nation,” Folashade said.

She said journalists should not stop in their efforts at promoting the danger in not adhering to the Covid-19 protocols, which she said will also help the government’s efforts in stemming down the spread of highly infectious coronavirus.
