Letter to Borno State governor

During his recent presentation of the 2023 budget proposal to the state House of Assembly, the Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum,  mni. FNSE, FNIAE, CON, (GCON Niger), promised to construct flyovers within Maiduguri metropolis. Areas where such flyovers will be constructed included Borno express and Westend roundabout.  

I will like, on behalf of residents of areas like Tudun Wada and Shuwari, to humbly request the governor to also consider tarring roads and constructing drainage in these areas. This is to stop the recurring flooding in these areas every raining season.  

These areas need the special attention of our governor as the communities suffer immensely from the effect of bad road and poor drainage, especially during the rainy season. 

We all acknowledge the untiring effort of our governor to bring succour to the suffering of various communities across the state through the provision of infrastructure and social amenities. 

However, areas like Shuwari and some parts of Tudun Wada need special consideration because of the poor state of roads. 

Shuwari ward especially, has suffered due to the poor state of roads, which is making life more miserable for the residents. This historic enclave has lost its attraction to many visitors. 

Now even commercial vehicles have stopped plying the road forcing residents to trek long distances. 

I am, therefore urging Your Excellency to consider tarring this road in addition to the construction of the flyovers. 

I wish to also to urge him to consider expanding Kano road and lay dual carriage from Borno Express to Mulai to avoid gridlock at the T-junction of the express. 

Moreover, it would be important if the government considers removing the rail line that passes between Tudun Wada and Shuwari since the train services is not anticipated to recommence in the state. The government can use that railway space to construct roads to serve as bye-pass and to address the gridlock that forms on Borno Express. 

I hope and wish that our vibrant governor would consider this request.
