Letter to UDUS Vice Chancellor

We spent some months coming to the University for the corrections to be effected. Just recently, our results were corrected and Alhamdulillah for that. The problem however is that despite that development, we were told that we cannot make the NYSC Batch C schedule to start in November because we didn’t have Senate approval result at hand. Sir, most of us are now having problem with our parents because some of them don’t believe that we have graduated, they no longer trust us and now see us as liars.
A friend of mine no longer stays in their house because his father is always abusing him thinking that he did not graduate. To be honest with you sir, this person graduated with second class upper division. But his failure to present his notification of result and go for service caused a serious problem between him and his father, and it’s not his fault. Our parents’ patience over this issue is beginning to fade. They are simply tired of our explanations.
We know that it’s very close for the submission of names to the NYSC for mobilization, but we hope you will use your good office and make provision for our names to be submitted, as it was done in the case of our colleagues who are presently serving after most of their names were omitted from the mobilization list.
Please sir, we count on you and hope you will look into our predicaments so that we can also go for our national service like our counterparts from other institutions. Like I said earlier, our have been corrected and vetted okay, the only thing we are waiting for is Senate’s consideration and approval. We hope you will listen to our plea and make all the necessary arrangements for our notifications to be ready soon and our names submitted for service.
Sir, we are tired of staying at home doing nothing. We all have ambitions, we want to progress and move forward with our lives but this problem is drawing us back. Our colleagues are now serving and it will be unfair if we are to miss this Batch C and wait for Batch A in March next year. It will be like we are repeating. It’s somehow frustrating but we accept it as a trial from Allah. We look forward to hearing from you and we hope and pray that our dream of wearing the NYSC khaki will soon become real in November as we now count on you. May Allah give you the zeal to help and wipe away our tears.
