The Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) will on Monday release the list of disqualified candidates from contesting in the state’s local government election, the Chairman of the Commission, Professor Garba Ibrahim Sheka has said.
The commission has fixed February 10, 2018 for the conduct of the polls.
Professor Sheka, in a programme“Barka Da Hantsi” aired by a Kano private FM station, Freedom Radio, said the electoral body will give adequate time for affected political parties to replace the disqualified candidates with new candidates.
He explained that the commission had completed screening of chairmanship candidates, while screening candidates for councillorship will hold today and tomorrow.
The chairman said 25 political parties are expected to participate in the election, noting that 30,000 ad-hoc staff had been recruited by the commission for the exercise.
