The Kwara State Government weekend announced the sack of the chairmen of the transition implementation committees of the 16 local government councils.
A statement by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, Community Development, Mrs Modupe Iyabo Adekeye, in Ilorin, directed directors of personnel management (DPMs) to take charge of the council’s administration pending election on September 21, 2024.

Meanwhile, a civil rights group, Elite Network for Sustainable Development (Enetsud) on Saturday said the government is now ruling the councils through development officers after the dissolution.
The body advised the sacked chairmen to refund all monies paid to them.
