LG workers to receive full October salary in Nasarawa

Nasarawa State governor, Tanko Al-makura

Nasarawa state commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Haruna Osegba, said that local government workers in the state would receive their October salaries 100 percent.

Osegba, who disclosed this on Tuesday, said that the full payment would bring to an end the percentage payment of salaries to the workers, adding that the decision to end the percentage payment was due to improvement in the federal allocation accruing to the state and its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

The commissioner explained that the percentage payment which began in November 2015 was due to shortfalls in revenue accruing to the state occasioned by the economic crunch as well as recession in country.

He added that the commencement of full payment was in fulfilment of government’s promise to end the percentage payment once the state’s revenue improves.

“The governor has approved the payment of full salaries for the month of October to local government employees in the state. Henceforth local government workers in the state will receive their full salaries while effort is on top gear to pay them all outstanding. We have records of all the outstanding and government will soon clear everything.”

He thanked the workers for their patience and understanding throughout the period of the percentage payments and reassured the workers of government’s continuous commitment towards improving their welfare.
