The National President of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Alhaji Ibrahim Khaleel, has called for the independence of local government areas from the control of state governors.
He stated this at the 10th Quadrennial State Delegates’ conference of NULGE, Lagos State Chapter.
Khaleel said the union is not happy with the way state governors administer local governments.
“We cannot continue to fold our arms and now, there is need for different approach on how to free local governments from the shackles of state governors. We will partner Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) on moves to ensure constitutional amendment that will free local governments from the state governors,” he said.
