The National Librarian, Professor Lenrie Olatokunbo Aina, has called on nursing mothers and pregnant women to read books.
He said reading during pregnancy increased baby’s intelligence while good reading habit among nursing mothers encouraged children to read.
He made the remarks at the launch of the Readership Promotion Campaign in Minna, Niger State.
Professor Aina also pointed out that books would be distributed to expectant mothers in hospitals during campaigns on anti-natal days so that they would be encouraged to develop reading habit and that would easily be inculcated to their children from infancy.
