Limiting unis of agric denies career ops

Abia state governor Okezie Ikpeazu has called on the federal government not to limit the universities of agriculture as it will serve the country better as multi-discipline universities.

Ikpeazu said limiting the schools to agriculture would deny many Nigerians the opportunity to choose careers in other fields.

Dr Ikpeazu said these when the newly inaugurated Governing Council of the Michael Okpara University, Umudike, paid a courtesy call on the Governor at the Government House, Umuahia.

"No course can stand alone because there is no Agriculture without Agri-business, So, we will continue to lend our voices to make sure the school maintains its multidisciplinary status,” he said.

Speaking further, he said, “We enjoy a very cordial relationship with the university. We see our partnership with the university as a leap in our agenda for a better Abia. We are aware of the development and job opportunities that come with the sector, therefore, we will continue to open our doors for collaborative efforts.
