Erik ten Hag’s 50th Premier League match in charge of Manchester United was a happy one for the Dutchman as he saw his side return to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over Luton Town thanks to a second-half strike from Victor Lindelof.

Rasmus Hojlund had the first good chance of the match in the 10th minute as the United forward got on the end of a cross from Marcus Rashford, but Thomas Kaminski made a great save from point-blank range.

Rashford, who became the youngest player to feature in 250 Premier League matches for the club, almost saw his weak shot deflected in, but the ball sneaked past a post.

While Man Utd dominated, Andre Onana had to make a diving save nine minutes before the break to deny Carlton Morris’s unmarked header.

Alejandro Garnacho then hesitated when through on goal in the 41st minute, allowing Issa Kabore to deny him.

Hojlund had a good chance to break the deadlock just three minutes into the second half, but his glancing header went wide of the left post.

The striker later went off with an apparent injury.

United finally got their goal in the 59th minute through Lindelof, pouncing on a loose ball inside the box and smashing it past Kaminski for his first goal in almost three years.

Rashford and McTominay both had chances to double the lead in the 70th and 81 minutes respectively, but Kaminski saved both efforts.

Ten Hag, who was awarded his third yellow card of the season and will be suspended for the Matchweek 13 trip to Everton, sees his side move to sixth on 21 points.
