The Livestock Value Chain for Youth and Women Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited has been officially launched in Nigeria to empower youth and women through value addition and drive inclusive economic transformation across the livestock sector.

In a historic virtual inauguration and swearing-in ceremony, the cooperative unveiled a bold vision to rebuild communities, elevate underrepresented groups and revolutionize the livestock value chain, particularly in Northern Nigeria and across the country.

In her acceptance speech, President and Initiator of the cooperative, Hajiya Khuraira Musa, said it was designed to address systemic challenges confronting stallholder livestock farmers.

“This cooperative was born out of necessity. It was in direct response to the urgent needs I witnessed across our communities—rural farmers struggling in silence, youth eager but unsupported, and women holding families together with limited tools and recognition. It is a solution, a platform for economic empowerment, food security and dignified livelihoods.”

She pledged to uphold the values of transparency, accountability and community ownership, positioning the cooperative as a model for participatory rural development and peace-building.
