The Executive Secretary, Federal Government Staff Housing Loans Board, Dr. (Mrs) Hannatu Fika has challenged indigenous training institutions to seize the opportunity created by government’s suspension of overseas training to provide the training needs for both public and private institutions in Nigeria.
Fika who made this appeal while hosting the Director General, Centre for Management Development (CMD), Mr. Kabir Kabo Usman with his management team in her office last week said workers need be taken through courses on mortgage and social housing.
While assuring the CMD DG of the board’s partnership Fika expressed need for the board to be skilful in order to deliver its “mandate in line with the change agenda of the present administration”.
Fika said the visit was timely and as an advocate of home ownership for workers, she believes that provision of affordable housing to low income workers will reduce social vices in the society.
She appealed to government at all levels to prioritize workers housing.
Earlier, the DG of CMD commended the Executive Secretary for her modesty and leadership qualities.
Usman said he came to personally brief the Executive Secretary of the new training programmes developed recently to capture the training needs of mortgages and mass housing sector.
He pledged that the programme will meet the requisite manpower development of the board and other stakeholders in the housing industry.
