Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL)

The Parish Priest in charge of Saint Matthias Catholic Church, Selagi in Konshisha Local Government of Benue State and Spiritual Director of Lobi Stars Football Club, Rev. Father Emmanuel Asue, has charged the Benue State owned Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side to go and win the 2023/2024 NPFL title.

Lobi Stars are presently topping the NPFL table with 36 points from 19 matches having won 11, drawn three and lost five matches.

The clergyman gave the charge during the club’s re-dedication to God which was held at McCarthy Stadium, Makurdi with the management, staff and players led by the Club Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dominic Iorfa in attendance.

According to the press statement signed by the club’s Media Director, Emmanuel Ujah, the Priest who read from Romans chapter 5:6-12 said if God does not build, the builders build but in vain, adding that, it is not by human power but by the power of God that the club is presently sitting atop the NPFL table.

Asue also consecrated the vehicles which were donated to the club by the state governor and  prayed against injuries and untimely deaths, beseeching God to complete the work He has started in the club by granting the ‘Pride of Benue’ a continental ticket.

Lobi Stars will resume their continental chase this weekend as they travel to Jos to face regional rivals, Plateau United in their first match of the second round.
