Lobi Stars will have a mountain to climb on Sunday in Uyo where they are to tread tackles with title holders Akwa United in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) week 25 fixture.

The odds are heavily against Lobi Stars because they are hovering around the drop zone with 26 points from 24 matches while Akwa United are in 7th place with 36 points, 10 more than their opponents in tomorrow’s match.

Both teams will be going into the Week 25 clash on the back of home victories as Lobi Stars managed to squeeze past Gombe United 2-1 on Wednesday in Makurdi while Akwa United humiliated Nasarawa United 6-1 in Uyo.

Therefore, Lobi Stars will be up against a highly motivated side but the ‘Pride of Benue’ who are already blending following the arrival of new players in their camp may give Akwa United a run for their money.

The Vice-chairman of Lobi Stars, Dominic Iorfa, has charged his wards to be more clinical in front of goal.

“We had a good game against Gombe United but the boys squandered so many goal scoring chances.

“This is what we must avoid on Sunday against Akwa United. When opportunities come, we must not fail to put them to good use.

“I urge the boys to show more determination against Akwa. Our target is to come back home with a good result,” said Iorfa.
