Lobi Stars have moved out of the relegation zone after defeating Nasarawa United 2-1 in the Match Day 26 of the 2021/22 Nigeria Professional Football League yesterday.
It was a cagey affair in Makurdi with both teams testing each other but being unable to score as the first half ended goalless.
At the start of the second half, the home team went ahead in the 50th minute after Ifeanyi Ogba finished off a brilliant Onuwa Chukwuka’s pass.
While not relenting on the slim lead, Lobi pushed forward for more goals and was rewarded in the 82nd minute when Godfrey Utim made it 2-0.
However, their lead was reduced after Tochukwu Michael scored from the spot to halve Lobi’s lead as the game ended 2-1. Lobi have now moved to 16th position with 29 points and Nasarawa United remains in 13th position with 32 points.
In the other games played, Katsina United defeated Akwa United by a lone goal while Sunshine Stars and Shooting Stars played a goalless draw.
Table toppers, Rivers United were condemned to their third league defeat, falling 2-1 to Kwara United while Remo Stars also defeated Wikki Tourists by a lone goal.
MFM failed to move out of the relegation zone after playing a goalless draw with Enugu Rangers while Heartland FC secured all maximum points against Abia Warriors with a 2-1 victory in an Oriental derby.
