Indigenes of the Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State have donated food items worth millions of naira to vulnerable households and individuals in the local government as part of palliatives to cushion the effects of the lockdown on the less privileged in the area.

The diaspora donors, under the aegis of Ewekoro Tink Tank (ETT), in conjunction with a sister body at home, the Ewekoro Progressive Forum (EPF), yesterday gave out rice, beans, gari and Semovita packed inside branded ETT/EPF bags.

Hundreds of people from across the 10 wards of the local government – Wasimi, Owowo, Obada Oko, Mosan, Papalanto, Asa-Yobo, Abalabi, Arigbajo, Itori and Elere –  benefited from the palliatives.

The head of the ETT/EPF donor team, Babatunde Kayode, a United Kingdom-based geologist, who commended the beneficiaries for their orderly conduct, said the Ewekoro indigenes in the diaspora decided to team up with the EPF at home to extend their helping hand to their vulnerable kinsmen.

Kayode said they resolved to reach out to people who needed the food items most, with special consideration for the elderly ones above 55 years.
