There was low turnout of registered voters for collection of the Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) at designated centres in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, as the distribution of cards by INEC ended yesterday.

Our correspondent, who monitored the PVCs collection in Lokoja yesterday, reported that the usual last minutes rush that characterized the last days of such exercise was not there as only few voters were observed trickling in to collect their cards.

Some of the registered voters who turned out for collection however complained that their cards were not ready for collection.

INEC had on September 2 resumed the distribution of PVCs to registered voters in Kogi and Bayelsa states ahead of the November 16 election in the two states and the distribution was to end yesterday (Sept. 30).

Contacted, Head of Voter Education and Publicity (VEP) at INEC’s office in Kogi, Biambo Bagudu, said the figures of PVCs collected and the uncollected would be made public after the close of the exercise yesterday.
