Adichie hinted this at the Stylist Magazine’s Stylist Book Club Inaugural Session held at Waldorf Hilton in London on May 29, 2014.
Adichie said the Oscar winning actress now has the full rights to make a derivative work off her popular novel. Though, it is not known whether Lupita would star in it or just produce it.
The rights given to Lupita would be the second Chimamanda Adichie novel to be adapted into a movie after ‘Half Of A Yellow Sun’, which stars Chiwetel Ejiofor and is currently showing worldwide except in Nigeria where it’s release has been delayed since April by the National Film and Video Censors Board.
Rumour has it that the film has been banned, but the Censors board say they have not banned the film but certain aspects of it “have some unresolved issues which have to be sorted out in accordance with the law and laid down regulations.”
This has been since April and many are saying these are just delay tactics so Nigerians never see the movie which touches on the Nigerian civil war of the 1960s.
