Star Hollywood actress Lupita Nyongo is set to play Ifemulu, the protagonist, in the ‘Americanah’ television series.
Nigerian American actress Uzo Aduba will play Aunty Uju, Ifemelu’s young, ambitious aunt and confidante, British Nigerian actor Zachary Momoh will be Obinze, an idealistic young man and a visionary, the only son of a literature professor with a deep admiration for America.
Danai Gurira, who featured in the famous Black Panther movie alongside Nyongo, is the pilot writer of the series.
‘Americanah’ is Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s third novel about two Nigerians, Ifemelu and Obinze who are young and in love when they depart military-ruled Nigeria for the West. It emerged winner of the National Book Critics Circle Award for Fiction.
There is no official date for the release of the Americanah series yet.
