Declaring the event open last Wednesday, the LWF Vice-President, African Region, Bishop Dr. Zephania Kameeta said the theme for the eleventh Assembly :“Give us our daily bread-the church in Africa today” is apt and couldn’t have come at a better time.

He said: “The theme of the 11th Assembly must re-awaken and open the eyes of the Communion towards concrete action in our world today” Kameeta urged members to desist from thinking so much about the sub-regions to the detriment of the entire continent, especially in the selection of delegates to the World Assembly to be held in Stuggart, Germany, in July

“The brothers and sisters whom we are nominating for the Council or other important positions in the LWF should not be representing a village somewhere in Africa but the whole continent and they should be able to deal with issues related to our churches and regions, but also to the Global LWF”, he admonished.

In a press statement signed by  Deacon Abuo Francis Ojie, a member of the Publicity Sub-Committee, and made available to Sunday Sermon, apart from the Vice-President, more than a hundred delegates drawn from the Lutheran Churches in Africa and other parts of the world are attending the Africa Pre-Assembly in Abuja.
