Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Abuja has asked the newly elected leaders of the association in the Area Councils to be proactive in resolving crisis between farmers and cattle breeders.

The chairman, Mallam Yahaya  Isah, gave the charge at the inauguration of the newly elected leaders of the association in Abaji and Kwali area councils.

Alhaji Isah, who spoke with Daily Trust at the event, stated that cattle breeders were seriously affected by conflict involving crop farmers, rustling and kidnapping urging the new EXCOs to work together in the spirit of justice, peace and cordial existence between breeders and crop farmers in the FCT.

Former chairman of MACBAN Abuja Chapter, Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu, who is now the National Security Adviser of the association, called on the leaders in Abaji and Kwali to ensure adequate compensation to farmers whenever cases of crop damage is reported and assessed.

He also charged them not to take the law into their hands or shield anyone involved in criminal activities but report such to security agencies in the areas for action, adding  that the national body of the association will deal with the branch leaders who provide cover for criminals in their locality.
