It was a weekend of A-list stars from Nigeria’s entertainment industry at the relaunch of The Dome, one of Abuja’s leading leisure entertainment destinations.
Day one of the three-day event marking the relaunch saw Vice President Yemi Osibanjo commission the centre open as South African duo, Mafikizolo and Nigerian Rapper, Falz entertained guests along with D.J Waxxy and female turntable master, D.J Yin to an evening hosted by ace comedian, Ali Baba.
On day two, the 2018 Big Brother Naija ex-housemates were in attendance to the delight of their fans. Ex-housemates Alex, Vandora, Princess, Tobi, Rico and winner of the show, Miracle, went neck and neck in the celebrity Turkish Airlines bowling contest which Rico won with music masterminded by D.J TTB. The win gained him a ticket from the airline to any destination.
‘Ada Ada’ crooner, Flavour performed on stage as former Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria, Munachi Abi hosted the night and held sway until he came up stage.
He revved up the crowd with his hit song, ‘Oyi,’ with the like of team Mafikizolo and the BBNaija housemates who took turns to dance with him on stage and enjoy the performance which included favourite tunes ‘Finally,’ ‘Sexy Rosey,’ and ‘Goldie.’
The show continued on Sunday with Jenifa star and actress, Funke Akindele-Bello, who was host to hundreds of kids at the Family Fun Day celebration.
On air personality, Willy-Willy of Wazobia FM Abuja, Alex and Rico jointly coordinated the children dancing session.
In an interview with journalists, The Dome’s boss, Dr. Obiora Okonkwo who expressed gratitude to the vice president for honouring the invitation, said it shows actually the strong importance that is attached to the creative industry.
Okonkwo said, “It shows that this industry can offer a whole lot for the country. There are lots of people looking for places to unwind. These people come with lots of resources and it is only when there is an environment to spend it, that we can get the extract from them like the VAT taxes that could be returned to the government. So we must not allow such opportunity to pass us by.
“Individuals, corporate bodies, families, youths, ladies, parents and others, this is what The Dome has come back with. We believe that this place would set the pace for others to follow.”
