A statement from the Editor in Chief/CEO of the Magazine, Abdullahi Baba Yayaha  said the move is in line with their desire to promote the power and energy  sector of the nation for greater development.

He said the award scheduled for 23rd of March, 2011 in Abuja, will  have the Vice President, Arc.Namadi Sambo as the Special Guest of Honour while  the Minister of State for Power, Arc.Nuhu Somo Wya will be the Guest of honour.

He said the award committee had looked at the nominees’ background  contributions and commitments to service delivery and their exceptional  achievements that support the nation’s infrastructural development in the power  and energy sector.

The Editor in Chief said the high point of the event will be the  commemoration of three years of coverage of the power and energy sector, adding  that the company intends to thank its numerous clients and esteemed patrons.

The Megawatts Awards which is to be chaired by Engr. Otis Anyeaji, Chairman, Electric Power Foundation of Nigeria will also have the CBN Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi and Chairman, NERC Dr.Sam Amadi as guest speakers. Some of the awardees include, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Dr.Ransom

Owen, Chairman and governors in the NIPP Board including the Vice President,  some state governors, corporate international organisations, and  professional individuals.
