Salami panel submits report on suspended EFCC former boss Magu

Justice Ayo Salami-led Presidential Judicial Commission of Inquiry is currently at the State House, Abuja, to submit its report on the probe of allegations against the suspended Acting Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu.

Chairman and members of the panel is to submit the report to President Muhammadu Buhari together with exhibits kept in about four boxes sighted by our reporter.

President Buhari constituted the panel led by the former President of the Court of Appeal in July this year to probe various allegations levelled against Magu, following petitions by the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN).

Malami’s memo allegedly accused Magu of diversion of recovered loot.

The memo was said to have contained 22 allegations against the embattled suspended EFCC chairman.

Magu was suspended during the cause of the probe and the agency’s Director of Operations, Mohammed Umar, was appointed to take charge and oversee the activities of the Commission pending the conclusion of the investigation by Justice Salami-led panel.

The initial 45 days timeline given to the panel was extended after a request for more time.

The report is being submitted on the day the pioneer Chairman of the EFCC, Malam Nuhu Ribadu is marking his 60th birthday.
