Over 1.8 million people are expected to vote in Borno State even as prospective voters from 16 local govt areas will be carrying out the exercise in Maiduguri, the state capital following their dislodgement from their towns and villages.

Women, especially the displaced appear determined to vote as thousands of them, some with babies clad on their backs were seen on queues.There are about 16 IDP camps in Maiduguri and a visit to some of them revealed an unprecedented turnout of people. Accreditation using card readers has already commenced at various centres, even as residents were seen trekking long distances to get to their polling units. Governor Kashim Shettima was accredited at the Nimeri Korongoso around 9.25.
