Speaking during a surprise visit to the team’s training ground at the Abuja National Stadium; Maigari who was accompanied by his deputy, Chief Obinna Ogba told the players that as they intensify preparations for the Africa U-17 qualifying matches, they must see one another as friends and brothers.

He explained further that without unity and love for one another, they will not like to play as a team as each would like to play individual football.

You must put aside whatever differences that existed before you got to camp. You are now one indivisible family and must always play for one another. Football is team work on and off the field of play.

If there is no unity among you, there will be no success. I am you all want to do this country proud but you can not achieve that dream if you don’t behave like one family.

Maigari promised to give maximum support to the cadet team saying in a very short time, the players will begin to feel the impact of his leadership.

In his response, the coach of the team, Monday Odigie, thanked him for making out time to visit the team despite his crowded schedule.

He said Maigari’s visit will surely spur the boys to put in their best as they intensify preparations for their qualifying match against Congo Brazzaville.

“This is a surprise visit and we want to thank you specially for finding time to visit us. We feel so honoured by your presence.

Odigie on behalf of his boys, promised to do the country proud by qualifying for the Africa U-17 Championship in Rwanda and the World U-17 Championship to be hosted in Mexico.

Although there are still close to 30 players in the camp of the national U-17 team, the list will soon be pruned down to 21 before the first qualifying match.
