With a deep sense of loss I wish to commiserate with the immediate family of the late Danmasanin Kano, Alh. Yusuf Maitama Sule who was buried amid encomium in Kano on Tuesday, he was an outstanding patriot who was ready to make huge sacrifices for the unity of Nigeria as a geographical entity, including the people who populate it.
The late Danmasanin Kano as he is popularly known exhibited an unusual sense of justice and was detribalized in his approach to issues of nation building. No reservations whatsoever should be held in describing him as a highly dedicated gentleman who showed a quality of joy in the happiness of others. He responded to all invitations by man and by God to contract relationships, to create community and to build the Nigeria of our dreams.”
Mr. Linus Awute further stated that the late sage was one of those who inspired me to join the service of this great nation and subsequently, his quest for excellence therein. Maitama Sule will be greatly missed by himself and many more. My thoughts and prayers are with his immediate family. May God grant his soul eternal rest.
Linus Awute, former Federal Permanent Secretary and founder, Global Development Programme for Health, Environment, Agriculture and Safety Initiative (GDP-heasai)
