‘Make face mask wearing mandatory’

This is calling on the federal government to make the wearing of masks by all Nigerians mandatory as a way of checking the coronavirus pandemic.

This is also calling on government to provide quality masks or encouraging and teaching people how to make their own masks; how to wear them, how to keep them clean and how to dispose them.

Our concern is for the welfare of older persons and sine no palliative from government is not specifically targeted at them directly and may not accurately reach them if delivered only to the community, we want to appeal that older persons should also be considered.

Since the National Bureau of Statistics states that there are 9.6 million Nigerians that are 60 years and above, government should provide a minimum of N52.9 billion or N96.1 billion monthly as special security package for its older citizens as palliative for COVID-19.

Therefore, to ensure that each benefit is delivered directly to each older person, the assistance of LGA councillors working with community leaders will be used to ensure delivery while CSOs, NGOs and human rights groups will monitor distribution.
