The Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde has tasked the management of the state-owned club, Shooting Stars of Ibadan (3SC) on qualifying for CAF club competition in the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League season.
According to a release by the club’s media, the Makinde expressed happiness over the performance of the Oluyole Warriors in the just concluded NPFL 2023/24 season, where they finished fourth in the standings behind Enugu Rangers, Remo Stars, and Enyimba to marginally miss out on a continental ticket.
“The team has made considerable progress in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), finishing in fourth place compared to last season. As it is, there is room for the team to accomplish even more, and we will go back to the drawing board to work towards our goal of qualifying for continental championship next season,” he said.
The governor, who witnessed 3SC defeat the Lagos-based team 1-0, vowed that all means would be made to ensure the team’s continental position next season.
The governor, who arrived at the match venue before kickoff, exchanged ceremonial handshakes with the two teams and match officials before presenting Adelowo Gbolagade with the Shooting Stars’ Player of the Season Award after the game.
