AL-BASAR Foundation in collaboration with King Salman Humanitarian Relief Centre under its 8th Volunteer Medical Campaign for Opthalmology 2021 outreach in Nigeria has offered free eye medical surgery to 1200 patients in Bauchi State .

Speaking during a ceremony yesterday in Bauchi Hospital Manager of Makkah Specialist Hospital Abdullahi Badamasi Muhammad said the free medical outreach is part of the hospital’s social responsibility to its host community.

“On yearly basis we use to hold the programme, unfortunately we don’t publicise the exercise but this time around we felt that it is necessary for the state government to know what we are offering to our host communities.”

Muhammed explained that about 8000 eye patients applied for the programme out of which 1200 patients were screened and underwent the surgery free of charge.

“All the 1200 patients also received free eye drugs. The cost of each cataract surgery is N50, 100 but the King Salman Humanitarian Relief Centre and Albasar International Foundation has taken care of the finances.”

Governor Bala Mohammed thanked the hospital for offering the humanitarian services to people of the state.

“We will work in synergy with the management of the Center to ensure that it is upgraded to standard where every required treatment can be made without having to go elsewhere.”
