Ten surveyors handling the survey and demarcation of the dam and reservoir area for the Mambilla hydropower project in Taraba State have asked the state government to offset their outstanding funds to enable them continue the work.
The contractors revealed that during a tripartite meeting between officials of the Federal Ministry of Power, officials of the Taraba State Government and the surveyors in 2017, the Taraba State government agreed to cater for the cost of security and transportation of the surveyors.

The contractors in a letter written to the Taraba State Government and signed by Mr Rotimi Apere, a copy seen by our correspondent yesterday, complained that the sum of N290m they spent on security and transportation for the duration of 160 days of fieldwork was yet to be reimbursed in line with the tripartite agreement.
The letter, dated March 29, 2022, was copied to the presidential implementation committee on Mambilla hydropower project and Director, Renewable and Rural Power Access, Federal Ministry of Power.
When contacted over the issue, Special Adviser to Governor Darius Ishaku on Media and Publicity, Mr Bala DanAbu, said he doesn’t have information on the matter.
